Yoga -Mind and Body   Yoga  means union of self with innerself. The thing to understand is how is Yoga related to our health. A sound mind in a sound body. If we are healthy we are move enthusiastic, positive and energetic. Overall we can be doing more physical and mental work which requires concentration of mind in the right direction so that it can give us more noble and positive thoughts. These are greatly helped by practice of Yoga.

Most of us would agree that children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. If they remain healthy and have good Sanskaras (impressions) fed into them they will help to build a noble Samaj, which can positively contribute, to a healthy community and consequently a healthy nation.   With these thoughts in mind   the Arya Samaj Centre at 69 Shane Park Road, Shanes Park has started Yoga and Vedic classes. It runs every Sunday from 9am to 12 noon.

The Yoga classes are for both sexes and for all age groups. It consists of pranayama (breathing exercises), asnas(physical posture), Yognidra and so on.

As a Yoga teacher I started practising it from young age but unfortunately it stopped on arrival in Australia as we were preoccupied with finding jobs, family commitment etc and this resulted in catching asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol and other medical problems. As I am now back to Yoga and meditation it has brought considerable improvement to my health.

In addition to Yoga we are also running the Vedic classes and performance of Yajnas. The Vedic classes mostly involve the recitation of Mantras and understanding their meanings. Its essential that everyone especially children imbibe the meaning of Mantras which will help them to develop discipline and high moral values according to Vedic culture. The Vedic classes are usually from 11.30am to 12noon.

Finally I wish to give an open invitation to all readers of this article to come and join us free of charge every Sunday and benefit from the service.
